Alexandra Maria Lara is a Romanian-German actress on television and film most well-known for her roles in films such as Downfall Youth Without Youth Control and Rush. Being the sole daughter of Romanian actress Valentin Platareanu, Alexandra began her professional career in showbiz as a child. Her roles included lead characters in television dramas as early at the age of 16. Her critically acclaimed performance in the television film Der Tunnel paved way for more notable roles like that of Secretary to Adolf Hitler Traudl Junge in the critically and commercially popular Oscar nominated war-time drama film Downfall. Additional Oscar nominated movies featuring the famous diva are The Reader and Der Baader Meinhof Komplex. Alexandra is well known for her work in numerous notable projects, both in the United States and internationally. They include the British biographical film Control Greek drama film The Dust of Time and the French historical mini-series Napoleon as well as other miniseries. She was also an active member of the Cannes Film Festival jury and Transylvania International Film Festival.
